MKH Advocates

Giving Back & Inspiring Others

MKH Advocates

Program Overview

MKH Advocates is the phase where our past participants choose to give back to the mosque by serving as motivators and role models for new intakes. This stage embodies the spirit of khidmah (service) and community upliftment, as they guide others through the same transformational journey they once experienced.

Through MKH Advocates, we nurture a cycle of empowerment—where those who have benefited now become pillars of support for others.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much time do I need to commit as an Advocate?

Time commitments vary based on your availability and role. Typically, advocates spend 4-6 hours per month on activities including buddy check-ins, training sessions, and event support. We work with your schedule to ensure advocacy fits your life.

Do I receive any training before becoming an Advocate?

Yes! All new advocates undergo comprehensive training covering mentorship techniques, communication skills, boundaries, and how to support someone through their MKH journey. Ongoing professional development opportunities are also available.

Can I be an Advocate if I'm still undergoing treatment?

We recommend completing your treatment journey before becoming an advocate. This allows you to focus fully on your own healing and transformation. However, you can participate in other volunteer activities while in treatment.

How does the Buddy System work?

Each advocate is paired with 1-2 new participants based on compatibility and shared experiences. You'll check in regularly, provide encouragement, answer questions, and be a supportive presence throughout their 12-week Foundation Program journey.

What if I need to take a break from advocacy?

We understand life's demands change. You can take breaks as needed – just communicate with the MKH team. We'll ensure your buddy is supported during your absence and welcome you back when you're ready to continue.

The Impact of Advocacy

MKH Advocates create a powerful ripple effect in the community. By sharing their stories and supporting new participants, they demonstrate that transformation is possible and that everyone deserves a second chance. The Buddy System ensures that no one walks the journey alone, creating lasting bonds and a strong sense of community.

As an advocate, you become part of a legacy of change, inspiring not just individuals but entire families and communities to embrace positive transformation.
